I’ve worked across a broad portfolio of risks, from low hazard through to more complex, higher hazard exposures.\n\n**What drew you to property underwriting?**\n\nI started out in Professional Indemnity but quickly realised property was where I wanted to be. Commercial Property has always felt like the core of the business, and it’s a space where there’s real opportunity to grow and add value.\n\n**What attracted you to Halo?**\n\nThe people and the culture. I was looking to be part of a strong underwriting team that shares a genuine passion for what they do and takes a practical, can-do approach to finding solutions for brokers and clients.\n\n**What excites you about the opportunity here?**\n\nWe’re still early in the journey, which is what makes it exciting. There’s real momentum and the chance to be part of building something and seeing where we can take it.\n\n**What are the key trends you’re seeing in the property market right now?**\n\nWe’re in a softer market, which is keeping everyone on their toes. There’s a lot of remarketing as clients look for the best outcome, so relationships and knowing where a risk fits are more important than ever. There’s a lot of movement and opportunity if you stay close to it.\n\n**Where are brokers finding it hardest to place risks?**\n\nHigher hazard risks are still where things can become more challenging, particularly where there are concerns around construction, occupancy or claims history. That’s where having a clear view on appetite and a willingness to engage early can really help.\n\n**How do you like to work with brokers?**\n\nI’m a straight shooter. I like open conversations where we can work through a risk together and get to a clear outcome. Brokers know where they stand with me, and I think that makes the process easier for everyone.\n\n**What helps you assess and turn around a risk quickly?**\n\nGood, clear information upfront makes a big difference. At its core, property underwriting comes back to a few key things:\n\nWhere is the risk?\n\nWhat is it?\n\nWhat is it made of?\n\nHow is it performing?\n\nIf we have that, we can move quickly and give brokers a clear answer.\n\n**What types of property risks are you most interested in writing?**\n\nI enjoy the mix. The more straightforward, bread-and-butter risks as well as higher hazard occupations where there’s an opportunity to learn something new. That variety is what keeps it interesting, and it aligns well with Halo’s appetite.\n\n**Where do you see the biggest opportunities for Halo?**\n\nWith a broad appetite, competitive pricing and capacity up to $20m, there’s strong opportunity across the low to mid-market. It’s about working closely with brokers and identifying where we can add value early in the process.\n\n**What do you enjoy outside of work?**\n\nI’m a Northern Beaches local, so I spend a lot of time outdoors and at the beach.\nI’ve got two young kids who keep me busy with sport, so you’ll usually find me on the sidelines at football or at a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym.\nI’m also a lifelong Manly Sea Eagles supporter and try to get to games with the family whenever I
